April 29, 2020
4 -5 PM (CET)
With a combined population of around 2.7 bn people, China and India represent roughly a third of the world’s population and almost 20 % of the world’s GDP. Both countries have had an extraordinary growth journey over the last decades but exhibit significant differences from a political, economic, technological and societal standpoint. Whereas China is already the second largest economy in the world by nominal GDP, India is catching up rapidly and is currently the 5th largest economy in the world. However, in some aspects it is still clearly lagging behind. How have the two countries developed over the past decades? What are the differences and similarities? What will be the key success factors for a continuous rise for each of the two countries? How can both countries get along with each other? And lastly, how should Europe and Germany position itself in the new world order of the 21st century?
